Our Board
AIHA is led by a Board comprising members who bring a wealth of skills and experience. Together, they are committed to making a positive difference to the lives of our residents and enabling the AIHA team to deliver strategic objectives.
AIHA’S Board is responsible for organisation governance and strategic leadership.
We have adopted the National Housing Federation’s Code of Governance 2020 and are governed in accordance with the Nolan principles of Public Life and AIHA’s own Code of Conduct and policies. Members of the Board bring a rich range of skills and experience, and outstanding dedication to AIHA’s mission.
To support the work of the Board, a number of Committees provide more focused scrutiny and oversight of different aspects of AIHA’s work. Board members, as well as other experts, serve on the following committees: Finance and Development; Housing Services; Care Services; Remuneration.
Cllr Michael Levy
Michael Levy is a popular Councillor for Springfield Ward at L.B Hackney and is the leader of the Conservative Group on the Council. He is a well respected advocate for Stamford Hill residents, with considerable experience of provision of care for vulnerable people. Cllr Levy is particularly interested in the public realm and housing need, and has spearheaded many local initiatives, including safer crossing on the A10, children’s play facilities and enhancement of common land. As a member of the Planning Sub-Committee he has developed a strong working relationship with Planning Officers over many years of public service.
Solomon Stauber
Mr Stauber is a member of the community with longstanding interest in alleviating housing need. He has served as an elected councillor in London Borough of Hackney, and for many years was a Board member of the Industrial Dwelling Society, a registered provider of social housing. Mr Stauber was influential in setting up the new Orthodox Jewish settlement on Canvey Island. He is an AIHA tenant and volunteers regularly at the Schonfeld Square Care Home.
Cllr Clare Potter
Ms Potter is the nominated Hackney Council Representative on AIHA’s Board. She is the elective representative for the Brownswood ward and is active in her local community for many years.
Moses Hirschler
Mr Hirschler founded Cromwood Housing Group nearly 20 years ago and has been leading the organisation ever since. He has considerable experience in property management, acquisition, and development. He has particular expertise in negotiating contracts with local and central governments along with the ability to leverage investment from financial intermediaries and investment funds. As the Chief Executive of a registered provider (RP) of social housing, he is familiar with the regulatory obligations and funding frameworks prescribed by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH).
Jacob Sorotzkin (Chair)
Mr Sorotzkin is a Director of Caring UK Limited, with extensive experience of strategic leadership in the care sector and provision of regulated care services. He has numerous charity trusteeships and philanthropic interests, including a role on the Boards of Side by Side special school and Bayis Sheli residential children’s care home. He has led a number of new-build community projects, currently a new special school for Side by Side
Julian Scharfer
Mr Scharfer is a solicitor specialising in real estate investment. He is a partner at Fladgate LLP and acts for investors and developers. His expertise is leading multi-faceted teams on large transactions, bringing together expertise in real estate, tax, planning and construction. Mr Scharfer has wide-ranging community interests, is a governor of Pardes House Primary School and serves as trustee for a number of charities.
Israel Moskovitz
Mr Moskovitz is a developer, and the founding Chief Executive of Avon Estates Ltd. He has extensive experience of property acquisition, development and management, along with a strong grasp of property finance and law. Mr Moskovitz has many philanthropic and community interests.
Brenda Feldman
Mrs Feldman is a Governance and Compliance Consultant. She has extensive experience of working with housing providers, businesses, charities and care organisations where she advises about governance, compliance and best practice, and supports her clients to develop and implement policies and procedures. Among her many years of experience, she served as the Company Secretary of Jewish Care and acted as executive assistant to the CEO at AIHA, where she coordinated the organisation’s successful defence during a Judicial Review and appeals to the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
Oshi Weissbraun FCA
Mr Weissbraun qualified as a chartered accountant, with experience as an audit senior and managing clients with asset values of up to £800 million. His accounting practice covered tax, business, management and financial advice to a wide range of clients in a variety of industries. Since 2004, Mr Weissbraun has been the Group Managing Director and registered person for a number of nursing and residential care homes regulated by the CQC. He has also served as trustee of a community charity for disabled children.
Jack Silver FCCA
Mr Silver is the founder and director of a growing accountancy practice known as Precision, with close to 20 members of staff most of whom are fully qualified and offering a range of accounting services. Mr Silver has more than two decades of accounting experience in the property industry and founded Precision in 2012 after achieving qualifications as an accounts technician and gaining extensive experience in the field. In 2014, Jack qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant and became a member of the ACCA. He has since continued to expand his practice which is a thriving enterprise with a loyal customer base.
